Mazda Recycles, Reuses and Reduces Energy Consumption with i-ELOOP

Over the past few years, many different automakers have started to develop environmentally friendly vehicles. Mazda continues to keep pace, as they recently introduced an all-new regenerative braking system called i-ELOOP or Intelligent Energy Loop.

Unlike other eco-friendly brake technologies that include batteries, i-ELOOP uses a capacitor to temporarily store large volumes of electricity that can be used to power such electrical automotive components as climate control and audio systems. So what exactly does a capacitor have to do with brakes? Here's the kicker: the stored energy comes from vehicle deceleration. The moment the driver takes their foot off the gas pedal and moves towards the brakes, i-ELOOP converts the vehicle's kinetic energy into re-usable electricity. For those who like the technical details, the system makes use of a variable voltage alternator, low-resistance, Electric Double Layer Capacitor and DC/DC convertor.

Dahl Mazda, is just one of many dealerships, who can not wait to see i-ELOOP at work in new Mazda models starting next year. Not only does the regenerative braking system boost fuel economy by nearly 10-percent but it serves as an excellent display of Mazda intelligence. Mazda is committed to evolving to what consumers desire most, and i-ELOOP is exactly what the world wants to see. The people at Dahl Mazda are proud to be a part of a company that will continue to push the limits with green technology
